The Board of Control for Cricket in India has opened talks of forming a Cricket Players Association (CPA), a move recommended by the Lodha Committee. After talks with the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Adminstrators, former India captains Kapil Dev and Shanta Rangaswamy along with Anshuman Gaekwad and Bharat Reddy, have been recommended for the “working group”, Times of India reported.
The CoA had initially wanted Dev, Gaekwad and Reddy to be a part of the steering committee after three of the four original members, including former India all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, stepped down from their posts.
Rangaswamy was included in the working group after the steering committee also called for a woman to be included in the list. The report stated that the CoA was told that it could not reconstitute the committee then since the issue was pending before the Supreme Court.
“We’ve had two meetings already. Right now, we’re collecting information from the BCCI about all the former cricketers in India in the male, female and physically challenged category,” a member of the working group was quoted as saying.
