India’s national football team on Friday was handed a tough draw in the 2019 Asian Cup as they were placed alongside hosts UAE, Bahrain and Thailand in Group A.
India will take on Thailand in their opener at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi on January 6. They will then take on UAE in their second match at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi on January 10 before crossing swords with Bahrain in their final group match against Bahrain at the Sharjah Stadium on January 14.
Each of the 24 participating teams are assured $200,000. The winners will be handed $5 million, while the runners-up will receive $2 million.
The Sunil Chhetri-led side booked their ticket for the 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup after registering four wins, one draw and a defeat in the qualifiers.
