It was not a good day for most Indian tennis players with almost everyone losing at the quarter-final stage. Here’s a look at their results:

Women’s

India’s top two women singles players, Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi, lost in the singles $60,000 ITF event in Luan, China.

Raina, the third seed, put up a good fight but ended up losing to sixth seed Fang Ying Xun 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-7 (3) in the quarters of the singles event. However, she stayed alive in the doubles, reaching the final with partner Harriet Dart. The third seeds came from a set down to beat Shuo Feng and Jia-Qi Kang 2-6, 7-5, 10-5.

Fifth seed Karman Kaur Thandi also went down in the singles quarter-final, losing to fourth seed Harriet Dart 6-2, 2-6, 3-6. In the doubles semi-final, she and partner Hanyu Guo lost 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-10 to the Chinese pair of Fangzhou Liu and Fang Ying Xun.

Pranjala Yadlapalli’s strong run of form at the $25,000 ITF event in Monzon, Spain came to an end in the quarterfinal as she lost Eva Guerrero Alvarez 2-6, 2-6.

At the $15,000 ITF event in Cairo, Riya Bhatia and Shelby Talcott beat Elina Nepliy and Natalia Nikolopoulou 6-1, 6-1 while Muskan Gupta and Saumya Vig got a walkover win over third seeds Petia Arshinkova and Gergana Topalova.

Men’s

At the Uganda F2 Futures, SD Prajwal Dev beat Christoffer Solberg 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 while Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan beat Vasisht Cheruku 6-3, 7-6(6). Ajeet Rai, who represents New Zealand, beat Vinayak Sharma Kaza 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
