Star spinner R Ashwin will play for County Championship outfit, Worcestershire, following the conclusion of India’s high-profile tour of England for a five-match series in August, ESPNcricinfo reported.

Ashwin, who played for the club in 2017, will replace Travis Head as their overseas player and is set to play against Essex and Yorkshire. Both games are scheduled to be held in late September, immediately after the end of a five-match Test series between August 1 and September 15.

Ashwin had picked up 20 wickets at an average of 29.15 during his last stint at the club.

The deal is subject to approval from the BCCI clearance, the report added. So far this season, the likes of Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Varun Aaron have represented club in the County season. India captain Virat Kohli will play for Surrey next month.
