Gareth Bale scored twice including an incredible overhead kick after coming off the bench as Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the Champions League final in Kiev.
Karim Benzema struck a bizarre opening goal on 51 minutes before Liverpool, who lost leading scorer Mohamed Salah to injury in the first half, replied through Sadio Mane.
But errors from Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius eventually spelt doom for the English side.
The win also saw Zinedine Zidane becoming the first coach ever to win the Champions League in three consecutive seasons, with Real becoming the first team to achieve that feat in more than 40 years.
Here’s a look at how Twitter reacted to the final:

Best explanation for Liverpool’s howlers

The fact that not a single Liverpool player consoled Karius after the final whistle is incredibly damaging to the club's reputation. You want to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" every game? Then embrace that moral and act like your song tells you too.

"Sports don't build character, they reveal it." Seeing you apologize to your fans broke my heart; it takes a real man to do that. As a goalie I have been there numerous times myself, on the verge of tears after making a monumental error. Stay strong #karius #Gkunion pic.twitter.com/3gMXoi7g3k

Lots of talk about Liverpool standing by Loris Karius after the Kiev debacle but the brutal truth is if they want to fulfil their ambitions he must be replaced. Not good enough.

Winds of change?
