Karman Kaur Thandi was the standout performer among Indian tennis players in action on Wednesday with a win in both singles and doubles at the $25K ITF event in Hong Kong.
India’s No 2 women’s singles players, seeded second, notched a strong 6-4, 6-1 win over YeXin Ma to reach the singles quarterfinals. In the doubles, fourth seeds Thandi and Tessah Andrianjafitrimo reached the semi-final with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Justine Sophie Kwan Tung Leong and Man Ying Maggie Ng.
Pranjala Yadlapalli and partner Victoria Muntean also reached the semi-finals beating Kwan Yau Ng and Ho Ching Wu 7-5, 7-5.
At the $25K ITF event in Fergana , second seeded Rutuja Bhosale and partner Anna Morgina were stunned by the pair of Sofya Lansere and Kamilla Rakhimova. The duo lost 6-2, 7-6(4) but the Indian is still alive in the singles competition.
Among the other Indians in the doubles fray, Riya Bhatia and Ksenia Palkina beat Sai Samhitha Chamarthi and Natasha Palha 6-3, 6-4. In the singles, Guzal Yusupova beat Riya Bhatia 7-6,(1) 6-4.
At the Ilkley ATP Challenger, Vishnu Vardhan and N Sriram Balaji overcame Luke Bambridge and Jonny O’Mara in a three set thriller 4-6 6-3 10-7.
Meanwhile at the Fergana Challenger in Uzbekistan, Arjun Kadhe and Alex Lawson went down to Alexander Pavlioutchenkov and Ivan Gakhov 5-7, 4-6 in the quarter-final.
