Upcoming teenage players Manish Sureshkumar and Nitin Kumar Sinha won their respective quarter-final matches at the ITF Sri Lanka F3 Futures on Thursday to set up an all-Indian semi-final.
Manish, seeded fifth in the tournament, beat Polish third seed Michal Dembek 6-3, 6-3 to enter the semi-final, whereas, Nitin beat compatriot Abhinav Sanjeev Shanmugham 6-4, 6-4 in the quarters.
Another Indian in the quarter-final, Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha lost to Ukranian sixth seed Vladyslav Orlov 4-6, 3-6.
In the Guimarães Ladies Open in Portugal, fourth seed Zeel Desai beat Sweden’s Linnea Malmqvist 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to enter the quarter-final. Her compatriot Mihika Yadav lost to Japan’s Yuriko Lily Miyazaki 3-6, 6-3, 3-6 in the second round.
Adil Kalyanpur’s campaign at the ITF Futures in Spain ended when he lost his second round match 5-7, 5-7 to Kazakhstan’s Denis Yevseyev.
