The Indian team won four silver medals and five bronzes at the 7th World Junior Wushu Championships in Brazil.
Babulu (42 kg sub-junior), Saleem (56 kg sub-junior), Savita (48 kg junior) and Rohit (80 kg junior) won silver medals in Sanshou, a combat sport that is similar to kickboxing. Himanshu (56 kg junior), Shruti (60 kg junior) and Janhvi (52 kg junior) won bronze medals.
In Taolu or Chinese Kung Fu, Karnajit Sharma Hanjabam won bronze medal in boys’ Taijijian event. The gold went to Dawei Zhou of China, who scored 9.42 and the silver to Naoya Katori of Japan who scored 9.35.
Egypt, meanwhile, finished with seven medals in the Championships. Mohamed Amin and Samira Mousa added two more bronze medals to Egypt’s tally.
