Twelve persons, including three children, were killed after a wall collapsed at a salt packaging factory in Gujarat’s Morbi district on Wednesday, PTI reported.

The incident happened at the Sagar Salt factory in Halvad industrial area, state Labour and Employment Minister Brijesh Merja told PTI.

The deceased were identified as Ramesh Narsinh Khirana (45), Ramesh Megha Koli (42), Sheetal Dilip (32), Rajiben Dahyabhai Bharwad (30), Raju Jeram Koli (30), Dilabhai Ramesh (26), Dilip Ramesh (25), Kajal Ganas (21), Daksha Ramesh Koli (18), Deviben Dahyabhai (14), Shyam Ramesh Koli (13) and Dipak Dilip Somani, (5), according to The Indian Express.

Morbi collector JB Patel said that the workers were native of Kutch and were working and living in the factory in Halvad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the incident was heart-rendering. He added that local authorities are offering assistance to the injured persons and impacted families.

His office said that Rs 2 lakh will be given from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to families of those who lost their lives. Injured persons will be given Rs 50,000 each.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of those who died, his office said in a statement.
