The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the removal of an allegedly defamatory video about Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, reported Live Law.

Choudhary had filed the defamation suit on December 2, alleging that there was a video on social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, with sexual undertones and his photo on the thumbnail.

He alleged that this implied the male voice in the video featured him, which he denied. He also alleged that the video was circulated to destroy his image and sought a permanent and mandatory injunction in the matter, reported PTI.

On Tuesday, Justice Amit Bansal stated that on a preliminary reading, a case was made out in favour of Choudhary.

The case will be heard further in April.

On December 9, the High Court asked Choudhary to implead in his suit those who had uploaded the allegedly objectionable content, reported Live Law.

It also observed that the National Conference leader had not filed the transcripts of the content, without which the court could not determine if it is defamatory.
