Cricketer Amit Mishra arrested for assaulting woman in Bangalore
The police interrogated the bowler for three hours, a month after the woman complained that he had abused her.
Indian cricketer Amit Mishra was arrested on Tuesday for assaulting a woman in Bangalore. The police interrogated him for three hours, before releasing him on bail, ANI reported.
The woman in her complaint had claimed that she has known Mishra for the past three years and the alleged incident took place last month in a Bangalore hotel room when he came to the city along with the Indian team for a training camp, reported the Press Trust of India. She claimed that Mishra physically and verbally abused her in the hotel room.
However, the woman had said on Thursday that she would drop the charges against Mishra and resolve the issue amicably with him. The cricketer appeared before the Bangalore Police on Tuesday complying with their summons issued last week.
The spin bowler is part of the Indian Test squad for first two Tests against South Africa, beginning November 5.
