Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta was arrested by the Delhi Police on Wednesday for giving false information about beef being served at a restaurant in Kerala House, ANI reported. Gupta allegedly called the police on Tuesday and complained that "beef fry" was one of the items on the restaurant’s menu, prompting them to raid the government guest house. The restaurant said it was buffalo meat that was bought legally from a shop authorised by the Delhi government.

The incident has stirred up a political storm, with Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for action to be taken against those who instigated the raid. A group of MPs from the state protested outside Kerala House on Tuesday. Leaders from other parties have also decried the action, and threatened to take the issue up in Parliament.

Gupta also purportedly spearheaded the Hindu Sena's ink attack on Jammu and Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid on October 20 for serving beef at a party in Srinagar earlier in the month.
