Pakistan's ISI hiding Dawood Ibrahim, claims Chhota Rajan
Indian police officials grilled the underworld gangster for the first time on Monday.
Captured underworld gangster Chhota Rajan on Monday told reporters that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency is hiding Dawood Ibrahim, main accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. The Press Trust of India reported that Ibrahim's security has been beefed up in Pakistan after the arrest of Rajan. Special commandos of the Pakistan Army have been deployed at Dawood's residences in Karachi and Islamabad, the report said, quoting intelligence reports.
Rajan and Ibrahim worked together in the Mumbai underworld before parting ways following the blasts, which killed over 350 people. India has long maintained that Ibrahim is holed up in Karachi, but Pakistan has continuously refuted the allegations.
The Indian police questioned Rajan for the first time on Monday and officials said that he could be deported to India in the next two-three days if his lawyer does not oppose it, reported the Press Trust of India. Rajan, who was arrested in Bali on October 25, is expected to be produced before a court soon where the Indonesian police will submit details of the cases for which he is wanted in India. Rajan faces over 70 criminal charges in India, including murder, extortion, smuggling and drug trafficking.
