Ghulam Ali cancels all India concerts, says ‘hurt by recent incidents’
The Pakistani ghazal singer said he will not perform in India until things settle down.
Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali has cancelled all his scheduled concerts in India. The 74-year-old said he was “hurt by recent incidents” surrounding his performances in the country.
Ali was scheduled to perform in Delhi and Lucknow this month. His concerts in Mumbai and Pune in October were forced to be cancelled following protests from the Shiv Sena, who threatened to disrupt them.
The singer told CNN-IBN, "I have cancelled all my future concerts in India. I will not perform until things settle down. I'm hurt by recent incidents in India. Indian fans have been very supportive. I'm a singer, I will talk about music, not politics."
