Cyclone to hit Tamil Nadu, Puducherry coasts today

Several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to be hit by a cyclonic storm, which has formed off Puducherry in the Bay of Bengal, by Monday night. Schools and colleges have been closed in Chennai, Puducherry and the districts of Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram.
Heavy rain has also been forecast in the coastal districts of Karaikal, Pudukottai, Cuddalore and Ramanathapuram. Winds reaching up to 65-80 kilometres per hour are expected along the coast from Monday afternoon.
