Darya Yurieva Prokina was living with a family in Varanasi when her landlord’s son allegedly set upon her after an argument.
A Russian woman had acid thrown on her by her landlord’s son in Varanasi after they got into an argument on Thursday. Darya Yurieva Prokina, who hails from Moscow, had been living as a paying guest in a Varanasi family’s home for three days and is believed to have been in a relationship with her attacker. They had recently travelled together to Ladakh, the police said, and she had lived with the family for three months on her previous visit to Varanasi.
The family took her to hospital, and she is said to be in critical condition after sustaining burn injuries on her face and shoulders. The police told the Deccan Chronicle that the man had bought the acid a few days ago.
