A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped and her minor cousin killed in Swaroop Nagar, a part of north-west Delhi, on Saturday. A 20-year-old neighbour, identified as Raju, is the main suspect, The Hindu reported. The girl’s younger brother found her bleeding, and the cousin dead with a noose around his neck on Saturday morning. He informed the landlady, and she went to the police. The children's parents were away when the incident took place.

The landlady told the police that the suspect had asked the girl's brother to sleep in a different room that night. India Today reported that the girl's parents had promised Raju her hand in marriage. The police said they were waiting for medical reports and the girl’s statement, but that prima facie it appeared to be a case of rape.
