Sheena Bora Murder case: Peter Mukerjea charged with murder, criminal conspiracy
CBI had earlier grilled Mukerjea’s son for 12 hours to trace discrepancies in father and son’s versions of the story
Media magnate Peter Mukerjea was charged with murder and criminal conspiracy by the Central Bureau of Investigation for his role in the Sheena Bora murder case, on Friday. Beginning Thursday night, his son Rahul, who was believed to have been in a relationship with Bora, was summoned and questioned by the agency for 12 hours, PTI reported. Sheena was born out of prime accused Indrani Mukerjea’s first marriage. Indrani later married Peter Mukerjea.
CBI officials said they questioned Rahul Mukerjea about whether he and Sheena Bora had revealed to Peter Mukerjea that she was Indrani’s daughter and not her sister, as Peter supposedly believed. The CBI also asked Rahul whether he had raised an alarm after Sheena disappeared in 2012. His statement will help ascertain the veracity of the information given by his father, who was taken to a Mumbai court on Friday. Peter Mukerjea has been charged with destroying evidence and criminal conspiracy in the CBI’s chargesheet, NDTV reported.
