Five sentenced to death for gangrape, murder of minor in Odisha
A court in the state's Keonjhar district pronounced its verdict in the 2012 case, which involved a Class 8 student.
A local court in Odisha sentenced to death five people accused of raping and killing a minor girl in Beklundi village in 2012, on Tuesday. The accused had been identified as Mata Munda, Mangal Prusty, Jiten Munda, Harjit Singh and Biswanath Munda, reported IANS. Two others accused in the case are absconding.
On the day of the crime, the Class 8 student did not come back home from her morning tuition classes in Barbil village, in the state's Keonjhar district. After her family members launched a frenzied search, they found her body with injury marks a kilometer from the village. She had reportedly been attacked by some people earlier as well, but her family had not taken the matter seriously.
