Four school boys rape girl in Mumbai, detained after circulating video
The juveniles cannot be arrested, but have been booked under relevant sections of rape, including Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
A group of four school boys who raped a 15-year-old girl and shot a video of the crime were detained by the Mumbai police. The incident took place on November 8, but only came to light on Wednesday after the video went viral and reached the survivor's aunt as a Whatsapp forward, said the police. All the four accused boys, studying in class 9 and 10 in Mumbai, have been detained and booked under relevant sections of rape, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
A Mumbai police official said, “As they are minors, they cannot be arrested. They have been produced before a juvenile court and sent to the Dongri correction home on Thursday where they will be questioned by a Child Welfare Officer.”
The victim's aunt approached the police on Wednesday after receiving the video, following which an FIR was registered. The girl, who studies in Class 10, kept mum due to the fear of shame, reported Deccan Chronicle.
