Ranji Trophy: Mumbai drop highest wicket-taker Vishal Dabholkar due to suspect action
The slow left-arm orthodox bowler is reported to have flexed his elbow beyond the 15-degree permissible limit while bowling in the match against Madhya Pradesh.
Mumbai will be without left-arm spinner Vishal Dabholkar for their forthcoming Ranji Trophy Group B match against Gujarat beginning Tuesday, after he was reported by umpires for bowling with a suspect action in the game against Madhya Pradesh. The Hindu reported that two of Dabholkar's teammates, off-spinners Ankush Jaiswal and Akhil Herwadkar, have also been reported.
Dabholkar has starred for Mumbai this season, picking up 27 wickets in six outings, making him their highest wicket-taker. Jaiswal made his Ranji debut in match against Madhya Pradesh. They were both reported by the umpires to have flexed their elbows beyond the 15-degree permissible limit in the match against MP and cannot play till their rectified action is cleared by the cricket board, reported PTI.
Mumbai, who are on top of Group B with 32 points, are already assured of a quarter-final berth. Gujarat have 23 points and need only to take the first-innings lead against Mumbai to cement a spot in the last four.
