India can progress only on strong shoulders of states, says Narendra Modi
The prime minister said that states like Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have proved themselves in easing business regulations to facilitate growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that India is seen as one of the fastest growing economies in the world and a stable government is necessary to keep the pace going. He asserted that India can move ahead only on the "strong shoulders" of the states and not from Delhi alone.
Addressing the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, the prime minister stated various measures his government had taken to integrate the functioning of the Centre and the states. He said, “Till now, Delhi decided where states will spend money. This has changed and now chief ministers decide where the money will be spent. It is important that the world knows about our states and the strengths of our states.” He added that states like Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have proved themselves in easing business regulations to facilitate growth.
Modi said there was no dearth of good ideas in the country, but their efficient execution was necessary for success and he was focusing on this, reported PTI. Allaying fears over a logjam in Parliament, Modi said, “Parliament is working now. This is good news. The credit does not go to Modi, but to all the parties.”
