The Delhi government announced on Tuesday that its odd-even number plate formula will be tested from January 1-15 and will be applicable from 8 am to 8 pm every day, except for Sunday. According to the government's formula, cars with odd-numbered number plates will be allowed to ply on the roads on odd dates, while those with even-numbered number plates will run on even dates. All cars will be allowed on the roads on Sunday.

After chairing a high-level meeting that was attended by all stakeholders including the Delhi Police, the Public Works Department and the Delhi Metro officials, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government was yet to take a call on whether the scheme will have the two-wheelers on its ambit, reported PTI.

Delhi transport minister Gopal Rai said the government will come out with a detailed blueprint by December 25 which will answer all the questions being raised by experts and the public. This will include details about exemptions such as people who are ailing and the disabled. A decision on whether women will be included in the exemption list is yet to be taken, he said.
