Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced on Tuesday that MPs and MLAs of her All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party will contribute a month's salary towards flood relief work. She also thanked everyone engaged in the relief work in the state, reported PTI.

In a message to the people of the state, Jayalalithaa said, "I will always stand by you [and there is] no need for any concern." She added that AIADMK members along with many others were actively working towards rehabilitation in the state.

In a separate development, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that all Bharatiya Janata Party MPs will contribute Rs 10,000 each for flood relief work in Chennai.
