Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi may not seek bail in National Herald case: reports
NDTV and Times of India claimed top Congress officials had said the two leaders would risk going to jail instead.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi may not seek bail in the National Herald case, NDTV and the Times of India reported on Wednesday. NDTV quoted two top Congress leaders as saying they are ready to go to jail if required and their legal defence is being kept a closely guarded secret. The two are expected to appear in court on December 19.
The Congress has also invited its chief ministers and other state leaders and might lead a march in the city on that day, the reports added. The Gandhis are among seven people named in the National Herald case, which was dug up by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramaniam Swamy. They have been accused of forming a company to acquire property that belonged to the now defunct newspaper. The Congress leaders have vehemently denied the charges.
