Winter session of Lok Sabha ends: 13 bills passed, Speaker expunges own remarks
Opposition leaders continued to protest over various matters, including the corruption allegations against finance minister Arun Jaitley.
The Winter session of the Lok Sabha ended on Wednesday, as 13 bills were passed amid Opposition protests. Leaders of the Congress and other Opposition parties continued to protest over various matters, including the corruption allegations against finance minister Arun Jaitley and the National Herald case, PTI reported. Compared to the Monsoon session this year, which was a complete washout, the 20-day Winter Session was far more productive.
A rarity in the Lower House, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan also expunged her own remarks made on Tuesday about the "vested interests" of certain members. She twice threatened to take action against Congress members who were disrupting the house. In the Monsoon session, she had suspended as many as 25 of the 44 Congress MPs for disruption.
