PIO couple launches Malaysia's first Islamic airline
The founders of Rayani Air said that people of all faiths would be welcome to travel, although they are primarily eyeing the Muslim market.

An ethnic Indian Hindu couple has launched Malaysia’s first Islamic airline, reported PTI. The airline offers Shariah-compliant services, including prayers before take-off, no on-flight alcohol or meals with pork, and a strict dress code for female flight attendants.
Rayani Air founders Ravi Alagendrran and his wife Karthiyani Govindan – who used parts of their first names to name the airline – said that people of all faiths would be welcome to travel, although they are primarily eyeing the Muslim market. Alagendrran told Malay Mail that the Shariah-compliant industry had a huge potential for growth in the country where 60% of the population is Muslim.
Countries such as Saudia Arabia and Iran already have airlines that comply with Sharia principles. Women on board Iran’s national airline, IranAir, have to wear the hijab at all times. Saudi Arabia’s Saudia airline does not serve alcohol and bans passengers from bringing it on board, reported The Telegraph.
