Army jawans gangrape Kolkata teenager on train
Police found that the men had gone missing when they searched the train.
Two army men gangraped a 14-year-old girl from Kolkata in a coach reserved for the military on the Howrah-Amritsar Express on Sunday. Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police personnel rescued the girl from the train at Madhupur station, Jharkhand. The Times of India reported that the victim identified her rapists on video footage on Sunday night, but the men were not on the train when police searched it on Monday. One soldier, Manjrish Tripathi, has been arrested for abetting in the rape. The teenager said Tripathi forced her to drink liquor, after which his friends raped her.
Police identified the girl through CCTV footage after she went missing from her home on Sunday. Officials said she boarded the military coach of the train, and was assaulted soon after. Officials stopped the train at Madhupur and searched the coaches for her before finding her partially conscious in the military coach.
Police said warrants issued by the Army and Movement Control Offices at bigger train stations will make it easier to locate the perpetrators.
