The Indian-Swiss duo of Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza won their 29th consecutive tennis match on Thursday. Doing so, they entered the finals of the Apia International in Sydney with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory over Raluca Oluru and Yaroslava Shvedova.

With this win, Hingis and Mirza overtook the pair of Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva, who had won 28 games on the trot in 1994. The next target that the super-successful duo will aim for is the 44-match consecutive streak set by Jana Novotna and Helena Sukova in 1990. The record for the longest women's doubles winning streak is 109, set by Martina Navratilova and Pam Shirver.

Hingis and Mirza had a very successful 2015, winning nine titles. The 2016 season has started on a good note and the duo will be backing themselves to win all the major Grand Slams this year.
