Legendary dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai dies at 97
Fondly known as 'Amma', the Padma Bhushan awardee was admitted in the ICU of an Ahmedabad hospital on Wednesday.
Noted dancer and choreographer Mrinalini Sarabhai died in her Ahmedabad residence on Thursday, CNN-IBN reported. The 97-year-old Padma Bhushan awardee had been admitted in the intensive care unit of a city-based hospital on Wednesday. Mrinalini’s daughter Mallika Sarabhai, also a well-known danseuse, confirmed her death in a Facebook post.
Mrinalini Sarabhai's son Kartikeya had earlier said that her condition was critical and her health had deteriorated due to an infection. “We are by her side. She is 97 years old and is fighting her condition bravely,” he had said.
Mrinalini was fondly known as ‘Amma’.
