1st T20: India employ spin squeeze to defeat Australia by 37 runs
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin combined with two wickets apiece, after Virat Kohli drove the tourists to 188-3.
Virat Kohli slammed an unbeaten 90 before India's two spin twins, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets apiece to help the team beat Australia by 39 runs in the first Twenty20 International of the three-match series at Adelaide. Chasing 189, Australia were bowled out for 151 in the 20th over.
Australia had got off to a great start, reaching 89-1 in 8.5 overs. However, once Ravindra Jadeja had Steve Smith holing out for 21, the decline started. Australia tried to hit their way out of trouble, but lost wickets rapidly. Jadeja finished with 2-21 off his four overs, while Ashwin took 2-28.
Debutant Hardik Pandya had a horror start to his international career, bowling four wides in a 19-run over, but redeemed himself with two wickets at the end. Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, had a better game, picking up the early wicket of Warner and then accounting for James Faulkner and Cameron Boyce.
Earlier, India scored 188-3 in 20 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 55-ball 90 from Kohli.
