2nd T20: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli drive India to 184-3
India will be defending the highest Twenty20 score at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In yet another good batting performance, India scored 184-3 against Australia on Friday in the second Twenty20 International at Melbourne, after being put in to bat. The innings was built on two half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, along with a breezy 42 from Shikhar Dhawan.
Sharma and Dhawan almost put on a hundred-run opening partnership, before the left-hander was caught off the bowling of Nathan Lyon when the score was on 97. Sharma then combined with Kohli to compile a 45-run partnership in 30 balls, before he was run-out for a well-made 47-ball 60, his eighth T20I half-century.
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni then swung his blade around in the final five overs, as India posted the highest Twenty20 score at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kohli remained not out with 55 off 30 balls.
Australia, earlier, made a host of changes to their side, with Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Nathan Lyon, Andrew Tye, Scott Boland and John Hastings coming in to replace David Warner, Steve Smith, Cameron Boyce, Travis Head, Kane Richardson and Shaun Tait, who will be preparing for the upcoming New Zealand series, reported PTI.
