Mumbai Police on Tuesday detained a Jet Airways crew member who was suspected to be involved in a fake currency smuggling racket. Agar Rislie was caught at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport with foreign currency amounting to around $40,000 (Rs 2.5 crore), before he was boarded a plane for Hong Kong, India Today reported. An investigation into the case is underway.
The airline released a statement assuring relevant authorities of their cooperation in the investigation, and said it had a zero tolerance policy towards employees breaking local or international laws. “This is clearly stipulated in employee contracts and reinforced in training sessions. We take all necessary disciplinary action in accordance with company policy and procedures,” the statement said.
