Supreme Court tells BCCI to implement Justice Lodha recommendations
This is likely to be a blow to the cricket board, which had expressed reservations against some of the panel's suggestions.
The Supreme Court came down heavily on the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday, asking the cricket body to implement the Justice Lodha recommendations. A bench comprising Justices TS Thakur and FMI Kalifulla notified the BCCI's senior counsel that they were happy with the Lodha report and gave the BCCI time till March 3 to put all its recommendations in place.
"If you have any difficulty in implementing it, we will have the Lodha Committee implement it for you," said Justice Thakur to the BCCI counsel, according to ESPNCricinfo.
This is likely to come as a blow to the BCCI, who have given indications previously that they were against some of the main recommendations of the Lodha report. The Lodha committee, which was constituted to clean up Indian cricket after the 2013 spot-fixing scandal, recommended a complete overhaul of the BCCI, including changes in the body's power structure.
