The Chennai police on Sunday solved a murder case involving a woman whose headless body was found in a garbage yard in the city a month ago, reported NDTV. The police said that the body belongs to Tamil television actor Sasirekha, and arrested her husband Ramesh and his girlfriend Lawkiiyaa Kashiiv on charges of murder, conspiracy and destruction of evidence. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and said they killed the 36-year-old actor and dumped her dismembered body in two places.

Police said that Ramesh was also an actor, and took up the profession after he suffered huge losses in his business, He was married once before, but his first wife and parents are believed to have killed themselves following his financial crisis. Investigators said that he then started living with Kashiiv, who is also an actor and his business associate, in 2012. He later met Sasirekha, who had an eight-year-old son, and married her in August 2015. However, he soon left Sasirekha and went back to Kashiiv.

According to the police, Sasirekha had filed a complaint against Ramesh for allegedly kidnapping her son. The complaint was found to be false.
