India to ask Twitter to block all accounts linked to Hafiz Saeed
Officials said these users spread hate messages against the country using the social media platform.
Indian security agencies will approach Twitter to block accounts that have links with Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed. The government also wants all accounts related to LeT’s front organisation Jamaat-ud-Dawa to be cut off. Officials told PTI that these accounts often spread hate messages about India and it is time they were shut down.
"We are approaching Twitter India which in turn will tell its US-based parent company to deactivate the accounts. Hopefully, it will be done soon," an official said. Twitter has blocked several Jamaat-ud-Dawa accounts on the request of different countries. Often, the users of the blocked accounts simply make other ones to continue their propaganda.
According to the PTI report, a fake account in Saeed’s name had asked Pakistani to support the JNU students in their ongoing row against the Centre. This had created controversy online.
