247 students fall sick after eating mid-day meal in Maharashtra school: Report
Within half an hour of having the lunch served by Iskcon, students of a school in the Palghar district complained of stomach ache, nausea and giddiness.
As many as 247 students of a zilla parishad school in Vikramgad of Maharashtra's Palghar district fell ill on Thursday after having a mid-day meal in the school. The condition of 17 students is unstable, The Times of India reported. The students belong to a school in the Kasa Budruk village in Vikramgad. They were served khichdi by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, or Iskcon.
Within half an hour of having the lunch, students complained of stomach ache, nausea and giddiness. Their teachers took them to a primary health centre, where doctors suspected food poisoning. They were later admitted to a district hospital in Vikramgad. The police has registered a case, while samples of the food have been sent for testing.
