Blackberry, Nokia devices will not have WhatsApp by the end of this year
The messaging company said the two operating systems' market share has declined and that Google, Apple and Microsoft have taken over now.

WhatsApp has decided to stop supporting its service on Blackberry phones and Nokia's Symbian operating system by the end of 2016. “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on BlackBerry (including BlackBerry 10), Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2 and Windows Phone 7.1,” the Facebook-owned company said in a blogpost.
When the service was launched in 2009, 70% of smartphones sold across the world had a Blackberry or Nokia OS. However, mobile operating systems offered by Google, Apple and Microsoft account for 99.5% of sales now. The messaging service provider said that this is a “tough decision” but the “right one” in order to give people better ways to keep in touch, reported PTI.
