The Delhi Police on Tuesday filed a 1,400-page chargesheet against RK Pachauri, former director general of The Energy and Resources Institute, in a sexual harassment case. PTI reported that the chargesheet filed at Saket court accused Pachauri, who is out on bail, of outraging the modesty of women, sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation. Pachauri had gone on leave in February after there was outrage against his promotion in the organisation despite pending charges against him. A female researcher at TERI had accused him of harassment in February 2015.
Reports said that after a yearlong investigation into the case against Pachauri, police had found more than 6,000 texts and WhatsApp messages between him and the complainant between September 2013 and February 2015, besides 34 calls he had made to her in that time. In February, another woman accused Pachauri of sexually harassing her. Pachauri had earlier sought Delhi High Court action against media houses for publishing “misleading reports with some ulterior motives”.
