Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja steps down
The chief of India’s largest handset maker resigned after two years at the company.
Chief of Micromax Informatics Vineet Taneja has stepped down from his post as chief executive officer. Taneja was CEO of the country’s largest Indian handset maker for two years, and his exit makes him the latest top executive to resign from the company. Taneja, who joined the company in July 2014, had worked at Samsung India, Bharti Airtel and Nokia earlier. A Micromax spokesperson said the company has not named Taneja’s successor yet.
A series of senior executives, including chairman Sanjay Kapoor, have left the company in the past few months. The Economic Times reported that Kapoor, who was forced to leave because of financial irregularities, filed a case against the company in the Delhi High Court. Micromax recently became the third-largest handset seller in Russia, and remains the second-largest seller in India after Samsung.
