Border Security Force finds tunnel from Pakistan to India in Jammu
Officials said the tunnel had reached 100 meters inside Indian territory and was dug with an aim to send armed terrorists.
The Border Security Force has thwarted an infiltration attempt after discovering a tunnel from Pakistan near the border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu, a senior official told PTI. Rakesh Sharma, Inspector General, BSF Jammu Frontier, said "a foxhole-like thing" was spotted by officers on Thursday morning. "After examination, we found it was [an] attempt to dig a tunnel from [the] Pakistan side towards India with [an] aim to push armed terrorists in Jammu [sic]," he added. Officials added the tunnel had reached 100 meters inside Indian territory.
Earth-movers and other machines were rushed to the location to dig out the trails of the tunnel, The Indian Express reported. In the past five years, this is the third such cross-border tunnel from Pakistan that the BSF has discovered. The force has earlier found one in Samba and another in the Akhnoor sector.
