Police register case of unnatural death in connection with actor Kalabhavan Mani’s demise
Doctors had alerted authorities after they found traces of methyl alcohol in his blood, but he died before the police could record his statement.
The Kerala Police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani, who died at the age of 45 on Sunday evening. Doctors at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, where he was admitted on Saturday, had alerted the police after noticing the presence of methyl alcohol in his blood. Mani's brother Ramakrishnan had reportedly filed a complaint, after which the case was registered. The actor died before the police could record his statement.
Police officials said his body will be handed over to his family after an autopsy is done, The Indian Express reported. Mani had been undergoing treatment for a liver-related ailment. He is survived by his wife and daughter. PTI reported that elaborate arrangements have been made so that fans can pay their respects to Mani and his family at the cremation in Chalakkudy, Thrissur district.
