The Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday put its team’s departure for India on hold for the ICC World T20. Pakistan was supposed to play four matches in India, the first one against the hosts at Dharamshala on March 19. According to ANI, the Pakistan government will only allow the team to enter the country if the government gives a public assurance that they will provide adequate security. Pakistan has also asked the International Cricket Council and the Board of Control for Cricket in India to shift the venue from Dharamshala to Mohali or Kolkata, PTI reported.

PCB chairman Shahryar Khan said the country's interior ministry will decide on the team's departure for India later in the day. The team was supposed to leave Lahore for New Delhi at noon. The Pakistan government is believed to advised the team against playing in Dharamshala.

On Tuesday, tournament director MV Sridhar said he was “more than hopeful” that the India-Pakistan match would take place in Dharamshala. A security delegation from Pakistan had reviewed arrangements at the venue. Sridhar had said the organisers and state authorities were ready to provide all the security required to the Pakistan team, but that it was up to the country’s government to decide.
