Pathankot attack: National Investigation Agency releases photos of four terrorists
The agency has sent these along with some DNA reports to Pakistan in an effort to identify the assailants.
The National Investigation Agency on Monday released photographs of four terrorists who were killed by security forces at the Pathankot airbase during the attack on January 2, reported Hindustan Times. The agency has offered a reward of up to Rs 1 lakh for information on the dead militants. The agency has sent the photos as well as their DNA reports to Pakistan. It has also asked Interpol to issue a black notice to help identify the attackers. Only two of the terrorists have been identified so far.
According to The Indian Express, the number of attackers who entered the base has still not been confirmed. On Wednesday, Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha that six militants were involved in the attack. Investigators have not found any evidence to support the National Security Guard claim that it battled two terrorists inside the billet, in addition to the four killed outside. IAF thermal imagers had caught only four individuals entering the airbase.
The Hindustan Times reported that a special six-member team from Islamabad led by Additional Inspector General Tahir Rai of Pakistan’s counterterrorism department will visit Pathankot on March 29. However, this has not been corroborated by further information.
