Thirty new police dogs have been inducted into the Delhi Police dog squad at a programme attended by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung. Hindustan Times said the dogs were all seven months old and trained with the Indian Army in Meerut. More than Rs 1.75 lakh was spent to find and train each dog.
The last recruitment happened during the Commonwealth Games, during which there were around 110 dogs in the Delhi Police dog squad, said Rajan Bhagat, Delhi Police spokesperson.
