Television producer Rahul Raj Singh, the boyfriend of actor Pratyusha Banerjee, was booked by the Mumbai Police on Tuesday for abetment of suicide, assault and criminal intimidation, reported PTI. The 24-year-old Banerjee, who was popular for her role as Anandi in television soap Balika Vadhu, allegedly committed suicide on April 1.

The police did not divulge any details regarding the investigation that led to the FIR being registered. According to PTI, the police suspect Singh was in relationship with another woman, which led to Banerjee being depressed. They are also trying to ascertain whether Banerjee was in any financial trouble or had any dispute with Singh. The police registered the FIR against Singh based on the statements of Banerjee’s family and friends.

Singh was first detained for questioning a day after Banerjee was reportedly found hanging in their apartment in Mumbai. He was later admitted to a hospital after complaining of chest pain and low blood pressure. According to reports, his condition has worsened. Police said they will question him again after he is discharged.
