A Ghaziabad court sent Bahujan Samaj Party MP Narendra Kashyap, his son Sagar Kashyap, and wife to 14 days judicial custody after they were arrested in connection with the death of the lawmaker's daughter-in-law Himanshi Kashyap, reported ANI. The police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by the victim's father. The FIR was filed under sections 498A (husband or relative of husband subjecting woman to cruelty), 304B (death of a woman caused by burns or bodily injuries) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act, reported PTI.

Himanshi Kashyap was found dead inside the bathroom of her's and her husband's Ghaziabad home on Tuesday, with a gunshot injury to her head. Sagar Kashyap told the police that she had committed suicide using his licenced pistol. The police said that no suicide note was found. Following her death, Rajya Sabha member Narendra Kashyap complained of chest pain and was admitted to hospital.
