West Bengal polls: 12 detained in connection with Trinamool Congress worker's murder

Twelve people have been detained by the police in connection with the murder of a Trinamool Congress worker in West Bengal's West Midnapore district. The district administration has sent a report to the Election Commission regarding the case. The Assembly polls will be held in the district on Monday.
Joydeb Jana, 30, was attacked and killed by unidentified men using sharp weapons, lathis and iron rods on Friday night. According to reports, the men allegedly belong to the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Jana succumbed to his injuries on the spot. His wife later lodged an FIR at the local police station against 22 people, including former minister and Congress candidate for the constituency, Manas Bhunia. Local TMC leaders alleged that Bhunia was present at the spot when Jana was hacked to death.
