India, China agree to maintain peace along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh
In meetings between army delegations from both countries, they signed deals on improving relations at the border.
The armies of India and China on Thursday resolved to maintain peace along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh, following two ceremonial Border Personnel Meetings between senior commanders. Both sides agreed to adhere to the treaties and agreements on improving relations at the border, which were signed during the meetings, a defence spokesman said.
“The delegation parted amidst feelings of friendship and commitment towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintaining peace along the LAC,” the spokesperson said. The meetings were held on the occasion of a harvest festival in eastern Ladakh's Chushul and Daulat Beg Oldi regions. They were marked by soldier saluting the national flags of both countries, followed by ceremonial addresses delivered by leaders of the two delegations, PTI reported.
The Indian delegation in Chushul was led by Brigadier Rajender Rai and that in Daulat Beg Oldi was headed by Colonel BS Uppal. The Chinese delegation in Chushul was led by Senior Colonel Wang Jun Xian and that in Daulat Beg Oldi was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Duan Yu Gangin.
