India face a tough ask in the final, with eight-time winners Australia being unbeaten in the tournament so far, following their 3-0 win over Canada on Friday.
India opened their account in the third minute itself, with forward Nikkin Thimmaiah finding the back of the net to spark an aggressive start to the game. This was followed by a goal each from Harjeet Singh, Danish Mujtaba and Talwinder Singh, and a brace for Ramandeep Singh, as the Indians slaughtered the hosts. Malaysia's only goal of the game came via Shahril Saabah in the 46th minute.
India's win meant that Malaysia will face third-placed New Zealand for the bronze medal on Saturday.
